Polysics - Wild One

The Polysics are perhaps best described as Japan's modernized, ritalin-fueled, high-tech upgraded version of Devo. Their newest album "Now Is The Time!" just came out last month in Japan and it is probably their most accessible, poppy album yet. It's a lot more guitar-oriented and focused on straight-ahead rock, with not as much overwhelming electronic noise. Every song is still a head-on burst of manic energy though. Hopefully this will get a North American release soon, possibly through Tofu Records who recently released their greatest hits album, Polysics or Die!

I have "Polysics or Die" on my computer and I love it, but I haven't burned it because I keep hoping it'll turn up at the Toronto store when I go in there... so far, no luck...

I like this band for sure. I would love to buy the albums, but if not for sale, then what? I have a few Mp3s, but I'd prefer the acutal CDs. I don't have a problem supporting bands I like.

There are two other albums available in North America: "Hey! Bob! My Friend" and "Neu" are both available through Asian Man Records. I got them from Rotate This in Toronto I think, and Polysics or Die I ordered from Amazon.

I'd really like to get their entire Japanese discography at some point though. Some of the albums like "For Young Electric Pop" and "Eno" are their best. There's a good excuse to plan a trip to Japan!

Too bad I can't rely on "Station To Station" to order stuff like this. Maybe HMV can start to carry it, because I was there yesterday and SURPRISINGLY they had the newest Shadow Gallery and re-released Athiest albums.

the Atheist albums were rereleased by Relapse, of course they're everywhere, I've never had trouble finding a Relapse release anywhere, ever.

the cool thing about going to Japan is that you don't have to pay for import charges there on Japanese imports.

Goon, yeah, still its good to see that HMV is starting to carry stuff I enjoy. Has Polysics ever been played on 102.1 CFNY?
As for going to Japan, I'd really like to if I ever do a out of country vacation...there or the Baltics.
