The Hot Rats - Damaged Goods (Video)

While Supergrass are in between albums, Gaz and Danny have taken the opportunity to launch a two-piece cover band under the name The Hot Rats, playing songs from all of their favourite bands including The Kinks, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground and David Bowie. They'll be releasing an album called Turn Ons in the new year and also embarking on a North American tour. See their take on Gang of Four in the video above, and head over to their MySpace page to hear an interesting rendition of The Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right" along with a handful of other songs.

Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck - Heaven Can Wait (Video)

I'm still trying to get the disturbing images of Charlotte Gainsbourg in Lars Von Trier's Antichrist out of my head, but thankfully this surreal video from her upcoming album with Beck is a lot less dark (although equally as stunning). The album is called IRM and it hits stores in January. The video is directed by Keith Schofield.

You can also download the title track for free from her official website.

Danielson - Moment Soakers (Video)

If I'm not mistaken, this is Danielson's first new material in 3 years! The animated video accompanies a brand new 7", available now on Sounds Familyre Records.

Taken from The Juan Maclean's second album The Future Will Come on DFA Records. The band's live drummer Jerry Fuchs (who also drummed for !!!) died earlier this month falling down an elevator shaft. Crazy.

We Were Promised Jetpacks - Roll Up Your Sleeves (Video)

Some angular rock from Scotland for you. I'm guessing they took their name from Daniel H. Wilson's book Where's My Jetpack?. Both this video and their album These Four Walls were released back in June.

Muzak for Cybernetics Mixtape: 8 Tracks for Nov. 2009 (Japan Edition)

It's been a while since I've posted an 8 Tracks mix, but I thought this time around I would put together a themed mix consisting entirely of Japanese bands and songs inspired by my recent trip to Japan. Some of these songs are brand new while others are old, but hopefully some will be new to you. Among the choice cuts we have a song from one of the many stellar Japanese Beatles tribute bands (The Parrots), a track from the latest Polysics record, and a new Deerhoof side project called OneOne. When you press play, the music to flow!

Playlist:
OOIOO - O O I A H
DMBQ - Ohh! Baby
The Parrots - Drive My Car
Polysics - Wasabi
8bit Project - Raiders March
The Zoobombs - Jumbo
Cornelius - Breezin'
OneOne - Urumaku Shotengai
